Our Mission
The Doncaster and District Chess Association is all about growing and sharing our passion for the game. We pride ourselves on our welcoming, friendly clubs, who work to support each new member with their goals; whether it be a competitive player; a new player who wants to learn a skill; or an online chess enthusiast who'd like to meet and have fun with players in person. Regardless of your current level and ambitions, we'd love to hear from you.
Where can I get started?
Doncaster is home to several chess clubs, all of whom are taking new members. In addition, the society now runs its own junior club for sharing this wonderful game with the next generation. To find out more about different clubs, just click below.
Junior Chess
With its systematic, logical planning, chess can be a fantastic way to improve a child's cognitive ability. Additionally, the infinite depth of the game can provide challenge to children in a way that they might never experience in other areas. This challenge will ultimately develop not just their academic skills, but necessary learning behaviours for a successful adulthood such as resilience and self-reflection. In Doncaster, our junior club is ran by a local teacher and strong chess player, who strives to help children not only reach their potential in chess, but to have fun and make friends whilst doing so. Doncaster's Chess Team
Representing our city is our very own Doncaster Team. Despite the success of early decades, Doncaster's chess team is newly-reformed and starting out in the third tier of the Yorkshire League where we hope to earn a quick promotion.
